Dolly Shots and Low angles

For this point-of-purchase commercial for Bank of America, the director wanted it dramatic and moody so I kept it dark and used smoke for atmosphere. Tracking shots on a Peewee dolly or the camera mounted on a baseball for ultra low angles created dynamism.  This is 16mm film.

High Impact with a Small Crew

This was a ten minute video of a  graphic bank takeover. We shot it in  one day on 16mm with a crew of 3 (including the director!). It was all hand-held with no video tap and all shots were done with a minimum of takes, generally less than three. We had a cast of nine actors, one stunt man. I kept the lighting minimal, partially to make it stark, but also to allow for nimble handheld shooting and fewer limitations on the action. Tellers tell me that they have burst into tears on seeing it because it evoked a takeover so effectively.

Morning Magic Hour

Shot in front of the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame at dawn to catch the "magic hour" lighting. 16mm film.

Jib Arm for Closeups

This is a sushi rice commercial that airs in the San Francisco area. Although shot on video, this has the richness of film through careful lighting. I used a jib arm to get overhead shots and swooping sequences with a wide angle lens.  Judicious use of the steam helps create atmosphere.

Stylistically Versatile

I have been asked to create a wide range of styles and moods. I've created 1940's film noir, westerns, spy thrillers, science fiction, music videos, broadcast news, soap operas, sepia tone, etc.
